A Few Days in Podgorica, the Capital of Montenegro

October 8, 2025 by Kameri Leave a Comment

Podgorica is the capital of Montenegro.  When first hearing this, I assumed there would be lots to do and see in the city.  I soon learned that people joke that it is the most boring capital city in Europe.  While it isn't a tourist hot-spot, we still found it worthwhile to visit during our time in Montenegro. We went through Podgorica twice while traveling through Montenegro. First as a multi-day stop-over on our journey from Kotor to Durmitor National Park. After our time in …

Kotor – A Medieval Fairytale Town

September 16, 2025 by Kameri 2 Comments

Kotor is nestled between dramatic mountains and the interior of Kotor Bay.  Here you will find a medieval Old Town, a sparkling clear bay, and tons of friendly felines.  I visited this timeless town twice this year.  The first time just for 5 hours on the last day of January during a cruise and the second time for a week during the hot days of early June. While visiting Kotor you should spend time in the Old Town, enjoy the cats, hike up the mountain for great views, and enjoy …

Travel to Charming Herceg Novi

August 25, 2025 by Kameri 1 Comment

Herceg Novi is a charming small town along the Adriatic coast just inside the entrance to the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. The town is built along the steep hills that climb up from the bay.  Hidden stairways scattered throughout lead to various levels of the town.   Herceg Novi is a great place to spend a few days with a historic old town, nice walking path, and crystal clear water. Below are the highlights from our time in this quiet and relaxing seaside town in …

Travel to Peaceful Trebinje

July 28, 2025 by Kameri Leave a Comment

Trebinje is the southern-most city in Bosnia and Herzegovina in a region known for lots of vineyards. The population is only around 30,000 so it has a peaceful small town atmosphere that we really enjoyed. Trebinje has quite a few tourist-worthy sites to visit, but not the crowds and over-touristed feeling that so many destinations come with. Below are the things I thought worth checking out in Trebinje.  A couple days in this small town would be enough to see it all, but we think it’s a …

Top Sites in Mostar

July 9, 2025 by Kameri 1 Comment

Mostar is one of the most visited towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Often people go for just a day trip but I recommend spending at least a few days there. Mostar is best known for its picturesque Stari Most bridge and Ottoman Old Town but there is much more to see. It has interesting street art, scars from the war, and beautiful surroundings.  There is also a great day trip option to a gorgeous waterfall and a medieval and Ottoman-era fortress village.  This post share the sites in and around …

Travel to Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina

June 23, 2025 by Kameri 2 Comments

Sarajevo is a beautiful, interesting city with a sometimes tumultuous history. In this post I'll give a brief intro to the city and its history followed by my recommendations of things to do while in Sarajevo as well as a fantastic day tour out of the city. Intro to Sarajevo Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina in southeastern Europe. It is nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains near the center of the country. The city fills the small flat section of land hugging the …
