Tribes of South Omo and Konso

May 27, 2020 by Kameri Leave a Comment

In Southern Ethiopia, tours are offered to visit tribes of South Omo and Konso. I visited villages of the Aari, Mursi, Karo, Dasanech, Konso, and Dorze tribes. I also visited a market of the Hamar tribe and saw Lake Chamo. Over all it was an interesting though sometimes strained experience. Day 1: Aari Tribe and South Omo Research Center I arrived at the tiny airport of Jinka and found my driver waiting outside. After dropping off my bag and having a quick lunch, we headed out to meet …

Kenya is a well known safari destination and for good reason. There are multiple national parks to visit for safari and the tourism industry is well established. Many people know English and provide great service. But there's more to this country. Nairobi is a modern city with lots of amenities. Qatar Stopover

March 3, 2020 by Kameri Leave a Comment

I took advantage of a stopover and spent a couple days in Doha, Qatar.  This city seems to be in the process of a transformation and I’m excited to see how the it changes over the next few years.  In 2022, the World Cup will be held in Qatar.  The country seems to be developing new areas, buildings, and prepping for the tourism that this event will bring.  Doha has an incredibly beautiful skyline.  Within the downtown there appears to be large businesses, …

Colombia for the Holidays

February 20, 2020 by Kameri Leave a Comment

Colombia is a fun, festive country to visit during the holiday season of Christmas through the New Year. Throughout the towns, strings of Christmas lights hang from homes, restaurants, and along streets.  Each park shines with colorful lights and decorations.  And many Colombians have time off to celebrate the season.  Medellin: I was in Medellin from Dec 8th until the 20th and back from the 26th until January 4th.  The top attractions of the season …

December: The Worst Month to Visit Iceland?

December 15, 2019 by Kameri Leave a Comment

I can’t say for sure that December is the worst month to visit Iceland… but it sure felt like it.  Rain, fog, and clouds interfered in our enjoyment of supposedly spectacular landscapes and wonders in this country.  I know, some reading this will have had a fabulous time in the land of fire and ice in December.  However, I think it’s definitely worth considering planning your trip either in October or March if you want to see northern lights, or summer so you can …

Varanasi

September 12, 2019 by Kameri Leave a Comment

Our first morning in Varanasi, my friend Angie and I ventured out on our own away from the tour group. We decided to set out in search of street food for breakfast.  It only took crossing the street from our hotel to find a little stall set up frying breads and serving hot Indian veggies. Multiple locals were eating here, so we decided to try it out.  We spent a total of 50 rupees (around 70 cents USD) which paid for unlimited veggies and bread for both of us. The cook kept asking if we wanted …
